First Portrait Session!

A couple of months ago, I had my first portrait session with this adorable little family.  Special thanks to them for being my very first clients. The entire photo shoot was so much fun and we got some really great pictures.  Here are my favorite five.  Enjoy! p.s. If you want to check out their super cute blog, check out Perogis & Plate Lunch :)

India's Sidewalks

India's sidewalks are mini strip malls.  You can buy food, drinks, clothes, heck even get a haircut, by just walking down the street.  The sidewalk barbers were one of my favorite Indian specialties.
I loved the setup. The ingenuity.  The whole idea.  I would get really excited whenever there'd be a haircut in session just as we were passing by to go to work.  Here's what I captured on the 15 minute drive to work one day.

Monkeys! Monkeys! Monkeys!

If you're in Jaipur, I recommend going to the Monkey Temple, just outside the city about 3 km east in the town of Galta. There are roughly 5,000 monkeys that call the surrounding area their home.  The temple is dedicated to Hanuman and the temple grounds are inhibited by priests and worshipers.  The temple grounds are quite pretty.  There were a lot of people bathing in the pools around the temple grounds.

It was definitely a great sight but got a little bit unnerving when the monkeys started to move from one side of the mountain to the other by crossing the stairs that lead to the exit just as we were starting to leave.  I followed an older woman who was completely calm and not bothered at all by the monkeys running in front of her, sitting and eating or sliding down the wall to cross.

Another note to those traveling - apparently it is good luck to give food to monkeys and we were in luck, there was a guy right outside the temple grounds selling peanuts.  What are the odds??

The People of India

I am officially back home. India was really an incredible experience especially since I haven't been anywhere besides Europe, some Caribbean and Mexico.  I have so many pictures so I'll do more posts later but I wanted to dedicate one to the many faces of India.

This little guy went very quickly to the next car as soon as I gave him a couple rupees.  Seeing this everyday was pretty hard.

One of the friendliest men I met in India

These two women just finished a two month pilgrimage around India visiting different temples
